We produce the evidence needed to assess whether Arctic-targeted climate interventions are safe, effective, and feasible

Where we sit

ASI was incubated in 2025 by a seed grant from the Advanced Research for Climate Emergencies (ARC) Fund, a program of Renaissance Philanthropy. We launched as a fully-fledged fund in April 2026.

ARC

ARC is a non-profit venture studio that incubates and launches time-bound, expert-led translational research and development (R&D) programs to combat catastrophic climate risk, including tipping point risks like ice sheet collapse, Arctic destabilization, and runaway methane emissions.

Renaissance Philanthropy

Renaissance Philanthropy is a nonprofit organization with a mission to fuel a 21st century renaissance by increasing the ambition of philanthropists, scientists and innovators. The organization designs time-bound, thesis-driven funds led by field experts and inspires talent to take action through playbooks and communities. In its first two years, Renaissance Philanthropy has catalyzed $533M in philanthropic funding for science, technology, and innovation, and has launched 22 time-bound, thesis-driven, philanthropic funds and programs addressing global challenges.
